Milestones: One year Check-up

Asher just laid down at 10:15 tonight. that is really really late for him. He's not feeling well because of a cold, teething, and now shots. His one year check up went well. He's consistantly in the 25th percentile for weight (19.3 lbs) and 50th for height. The doctor isn't concerned about the weight though since that has been his trend for quite some time now. Poor guy still can't have his carseat turned.
Besides normal check-up stuff we had to deal with his ongoing respiratory issues. She said he had a touch of the croup. So, once again we're on breathing treatments. The doctor is actually helping us with insurance to just buy the machine instead of renting it all the time. The occasional wheezing and "barking" dosen't seem to phase him any though. That makes me feel better. Again, she wasn't overly concened. It's an easy fix. He's good as new after the treatments.
Also, we used the last bit of formula this morning. He's officially on nothing but organic soy milk. I've introduced it to him sporadically over the last week since I knew this can of formula would probably be the last one. He doesn't even care. He's so his Daddy's son--laid back! The doctor says he needs at least 16 oz of milk a day plus 4-6 oz of juice. That seems like so much to me. I feel like I'm constantly chasing him with a cup. He is just shy of getting that so he's starting Poly-Vi-Sol drops with iron. Does anyone else have trouble getting that much milk in their kid? Just curious. Well, that's the latest Asher report!

Do you think something like a little croup will slow that boy down? No way, he's got places to go, things to do, people to see and a chihuahua to terrorize! YES its hard to get that much liquid in Jake since he switched to cups. I just assume that he'll drink when he's thirsty and we substitute with a lot of yogurt and cheese.

The milk thing I can agree with you on. Just the other day I called my mom and said that Brayden had not had a bottle all day. He had eaten all of his meals and then slept and played in between. he didn't have any milk until he went to bed.... and then he only had about 4 oz to help him go to sleep. They are just busy bodies! My dr. says the same thing though about the oz of milk and juice.

I was interested to read your blog. As a parent you may be interested in being part of a university study I'm involved with. It’s about how infants and children develop. It wouldn’t take much of your time, and it’s a great way to contribute to knowledge by reporting on your own experiences. For more details go to the following address after copying it into your browser window, www.babyplaystudy.org. Best wishes,Melissa
